How stress works?
Stress is caused by situations of distress, anxiety, worry, anger, etc. that causes a number of problems and damage to the health of the individual who suffers it. The problem is that we can be stressed and not realize. We may feel physically ill and not know that those annoyances you are brought on by stress.
Some of the symptoms are: headache, muscle aches, especially in the back and shoulders, decreased sexual appetite, gastrointestinal diseases such as gastritis and colitis, hair loss, acne, insomnia or any sleep disorder up to have hypertension blood or heart problems that can cause a heart attack.
Several effects stress has on the body:
1. Alarm signal
when you hear, you see or feel a threat, nerve signals the brain sends the message.
2. Trigger the brain
The signals reach the amygdala, a brain region that helps in making decisions and regulate emotions. The amygdala alerts the hypothalamus, responsible for controlling the production of hormones.
3. Waterfall hormones
The part of the nervous system that releases adrenaline quick action. Meanwhile, the hypothalamus produces corticotropin releasing hormone, initiating a sequence terminating production of cortisol, a stress hormone.
Cortisol, epinephrine (adrenaline) and other chemicals into the bloodstream, traveling through the body.
5. The master key
almost all cells in organs and tissues are covered with proteins called glucocorticoid receptors. Cortisol fits them like a key in a lock.
Cortisol raises blood sugar. Epinephrine makes the heart beat, increasing the oxygen flowing into muscles.
There are two different types of stress:
Episodic acute stress (short term)
Immediate threats trigger a fight or flight response. In addition to flood the bloodstream with hormones, the body releases small proteins called cytokines, which regulate the immune response. chronic stress (long-term)
The hassles of every day as overwork or heavy traffic, or crises such as unemployment held to care for a sick relative, can cause the body constantly activate the stress response. The body and the brain does not have the ability to adjust hormones and inflammatory chemicals to normal levels, damaging the immune system, making the person prone to diseases.
